Frequently asked questions

Why doesn’t my pull request show an Endform check?

Section titled “Why doesn’t my pull request show an Endform check?”

The Netlify deploy log explains it with a line that starts with GitHub check not reported:. The reasons are:

Reason What to do
repository_not_connected Install the Endform GitHub app on the repository, from the Endform organization the project is connected to.
reconfigure_project The project’s key was created before Endform recorded its repository. Disconnect the project and configure it again.
missing_permission The Endform GitHub app doesn’t have permission to create checks on the repository. Accept the app’s updated permissions in your GitHub settings.
commit_not_found GitHub doesn’t know the commit, for example after a force push. The next deploy reports normally.
repository_not_found GitHub can’t find the repository, for example after it was renamed or moved.
not_github The project’s repository isn’t on GitHub. The tests still run, but there’s no check.

If the log says Could not report the GitHub check (403) instead, the key belongs to a different project or repository. Configure the project again.

Why does Netlify’s secrets scan fail my build?

Section titled “Why does Netlify’s secrets scan fail my build?”

Build tools like Next.js cache the build environment, so the scan can find secrets in the build output. The extension’s own key isn’t an environment variable, so the scan never sees it.

Secrets your tests use, such as E2E_NETLIFY_PREVIEW_PASSWORD, can still trip the scan. Add them to the project’s SECRETS_SCAN_OMIT_KEYS variable, or to netlify.toml if you set it there.

Why do all my tests fail with 401 Unauthorized?

Section titled “Why do all my tests fail with 401 Unauthorized?”

Your Deploy Previews are protected, so your tests get Netlify’s login or password page instead of your app. New Netlify projects are private by default. See Private and password-protected Deploy Previews.

Yes. A failed run is only a warning in Netlify, but you can make the Endform (your-project-name) check required in your GitHub branch protection rules.

Which code hosting platforms are supported?

Section titled “Which code hosting platforms are supported?”

The tests run for any Netlify project with Deploy Previews. Pull request checks are only reported for GitHub repositories.

Yes. Run the Endform CLI in the standard way:

Terminal window
npx endform@latest test

See the local CLI getting started guide for remote servers.
