Playwright on Vercel with Endform: the dream end-to-end testing setup

Written by Oliver Stenbom

Today we are releasing our integration with Vercel!

It’s the most accurate, performant way to test your web applications, period. By pairing the best preview environments with the fastest Playwright infrastructure, we are changing the way engineers can use end-to-end tests.

Now you can deploy with the confidence of hundreds of end-to-end tests, without slowing down your feedback loop.

Realism matters

Although we tend to write relatively few end-to-end tests, they have long been the best way to avoid the worst possible failures. They give us the confidence we need to ship frequently without breaking our applications.

The closer they can reflect the reality of our users, the more confident we can feel. Some things help us reflect reality in our tests more than others.

Vercel Previews

Good preview environments help a lot with realism.

You will likely catch more problems by running your tests against a real build on proper infrastructure than on a dev server over localhost. Nuances like cache headers and the way JS gets bundled meaningfully change the way your application works. We have seen plenty of broken flows and crashed apps that only surfaced in real builds in our time!

Vercel has some of the fastest-to-deploy, easiest-to-use preview infrastructure out there.

Playwright with Endform

Playwright is the most popular end-to-end testing framework. In my opinion, it rose to the top because of how simple it is to write tests that are reliable. Fossils such as myself who have written their own retry logic for form inputs in Selenium will happily grumble about how good we have it today.

At Endform, we take running your Playwright tests to the next level. We can run all of your tests in parallel, and give you the historical analysis you need to keep your suite healthy.

Integrating with Vercel

A running Vercel deployment check with Endform

We created the Endform Vercel integration because we knew that Vercel’s previews paired with Endform’s test infrastructure are a match made in heaven.

By using the Vercel integration, you get:

  • Automatic waiting for deployments to be ready
  • Automatic deployment protection bypass in your test suites
  • Vercel Checks on deployments
  • Billing straight through Vercel when using the native integration

Getting started is super straightforward, just head over to the Vercel marketplace or read more in our docs.

⚡ Speed up your E2E tests

Endform runs your entire Playwright suite in parallel. What used to take minutes now takes seconds.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Endform?
Endform runs browser based end to end tests for web applications quickly and reliably. We target the end to end testing framework Playwright.
How do I get started with Endform?
Getting started with Endform is easy! Just switch out one CLI command and you are up and running. We are fully Playwright compatible - no configuration changes needed.
How does Endform work?
Endform distributes your Playwright tests across hundreds of machines in the cloud. We run one test per machine, and coordinate the collection of results. This way your test suite finishes in the fastest possible time, while letting you focus on writing tests instead of managing infrastructure.
How fast is Endform compared to other runners?

Endform runs Playwright tests significantly faster than traditional runners by utilizing full parallelization and a highly optimized runtime.

We have seen speedups of some test suites of over 20x, and we can run most test suites in under 2 minutes.

Do you support other test frameworks than Playwright?
No. As of today we only support running Playwright tests. This lets us focus on providing the best possible experience for Playwright users. In the future we may consider adding support for other frameworks.
